My Adventure Thus Far

and everything in between

When I was young, I was always chided by my teachers and parents for daydreaming. Instead of maths and science, I was having fictional wars between pirates or dragon wizards casting magic. This led me to taking a Diploma Course in Singapore Polytechnic, where I did Game Design and Development. Driven by passion, I wanted to create, to turn all those imaginations into drawings, bring them to life. However, I finished with a focus on User Interface for our Final Year Project -  one of the best from the cohort..

This sparked something in me, and I found an equal amount of passion in creating up the interfaces for games as well. Good art and good game design were definitely essential, but if the if users were confused and didn't know how to work about the game, or if the information was confusing, it would still affect them and make for a lot of inconvenience.

Being naturally curious, I also longed to find out the reasoning behind things as well, and this also fueled my efforts when I went over to take General Assembly's User Experience Design Immersive course. I looked to find out reasoning, understanding motives, and this blended well with my inquisitive nature and allowed me to design good UX for my projects.

Meanwhile on the side, I do freelance commissions, creating digital paintings or vector illustrations for clients. I play around a bit with graphic design and video editing, exploring more artistic mediums as well. But most of all, I enjoy seeing things from another perspective, which is what makes me very passionate about UX. Everyone has different perceptions and opinions, and understanding them is half the fun for me when it comes to design.

Maybe we could chat a bit more about things, have a talk over a cup of milk tea. I'm all for an exchange of views and love meeting new people.
